Short Description
Under the supervision of the EMS Supervisor, along with filling the role of a field EMT, the Field Training Officer (FTO) will serve as an assistant and resource to the EMS supervisor to ensure that the day-to-day operations of the EMS department are managed with optimal efficiency. Duties may include, but are not limited to;equipment maintainence and accountability, vehicle rotation/reporting/repair coordination, scheduling assistance, assisting with the coordination of PR events, assisting in the logistics for educational events, mentoring, assuring service continuity, functioning as a liaison for staff and management, representing Cooper EMS at meetings and ceremonies, and assisting in the on-boarding/orientation of new EMT employees.
The FTO must possess good interpersonal skills, administrative (organization and planning) skills, communication skills, and display a positive attitude.
Under the supervision of the EMS Supervisor, the FTO/EMT will provide pre-hospital Basic Life Support care in all weather conditions, in cooperation with other EMS providers as a member of the patient care team. Care will be rendered to patients of all ages whom experience any injury or illness, utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques to safely assess, treat, lift, move and transport patients to appropriate medical facilities. Complete all required documentation and other assigned duties which support efficient EMS operations while maintaining a professional attitude.
The FTO will also serve to train new EMS employees in the service delivery methods, policies, procedures and protocols used by Cooper EMS. The FTO will observe/evaluate new EMS employees to ensure that they possess the requisite attitude, knowledge, and skill set to provide EMS services.. The FTO will actively participate in Performance Improvement (PI) activities, including, but not limited to, assessment, remediation and loop closure.
Experience Required
3-5 year experience as a Certified EMT-B in a 911 system. Supervisory experience preferred.
Minimum 1 year of current full-time or part time experience with Cooper EMS, PEPP or EPC (within 1 year).
HazMat Awareness (within 1 year).
Education Requirements
High School Diploma
License/Certification Requirements
ICS-100 or equivalent and IS-700 or equivalent upon hire. ICS-200 or equivalent and IS-800 or equivalent within first year of employment.
Current NJ EMT certification , NREMT preferred.
BLS certification.
Current state issued driver's license with clean driving record.
Other qualifications
Must be physically able to work in all weather and environmental conditions, able to lift and move patients in all circumstance and perform all duties consistent with providing ALS and/or BLS in the pre-hospital environment.
