Short Description

Internal Audit Intern – Kickstart Your Career in Healthcare Audit at Cooper University Health Care

Who We Are

At Cooper, the Internal Audit department does more than check for compliance; we act as strategic advisors to the

health system. We provide assurance on the financial and operational health of the organization so our leaders can

focus on patient care. We are looking for an Internal Audit Intern who is curious, detail-oriented, and ready to see how

a major health system operates from the inside out.

Why Join Us? (The Internship Experience)

● Real-World Exposure: You won't just be filing papers. You will shadow Senior Auditors on financial and

operational reviews, gaining exposure to hospital administration and finance.

● The Capstone Project: You will be assigned a specific project during your time with us, culminating in a final

presentation to the team. This is a tangible accomplishment you can put on your resume.

● Mentorship: You will work directly with the Director of Internal Audit and Senior staff, receiving feedback and

career guidance.

● Future Opportunities: We view this program as a pipeline. Successful interns gain the experience needed to

apply for our Junior Internal Auditor roles in the future.

What You Will Do (Your Day-to-Day)

No two days are the same, but here is how you can expect to spend your time:

● 40% Project Execution: You will be responsible for a specific audit project or set of tasks, analyzing data and

organizing findings.

● 30% Shadowing & Collaboration: You will sit in on meetings with audit stakeholders and work with the team to

understand how we interview auditees and identify risks.

● 20% Data & Reporting: You will use Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/BI/ PowerPoint, etc.) to help the team

synthesize complex data into clear reports.

● 10% The "Final Report": You will synthesize your key learnings and project outcomes into a brief final

presentation for the department leadership.

Who You Are

● A Curious Learner: You ask questions. You want to understand why a process works the way it does.

● A Team Player: You are comfortable working with people from various backgrounds and bring a positive, self-

motivated attitude to the office.

● Organized: You can manage your own small projects and deadlines without needing constant reminders

Experience Required

Current enrollment at Drexel University in a Bachelor’s program in Business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.

Education Requirements

Coursework: Having completed prior coursework or completing coursework in internal audit and risk management. Tech Skills: You are comfortable with Microsoft Office, specifically Word (for writing) and Excel (for organizing data). Communication: Strong written and verbal skills are a must, as you will be presenting your work to the team.
