  • Retirement

    Cooper University Health Care offers a 403(b) retirement plan administered by Fidelity Investments that enables team members to save and plan for retirement through pre-tax and post-tax (Roth) contributions. All new team members of Cooper University Health Care will have 3% of compensation automatically deducted from their pay each payroll period and directed to their account at Fidelity Investments. Deferral percentages can be changed with Fidelity at any time, once enrolled. A match contribution of 50% of the team member’s contributions up to 5% of annual salary is available once eligible.

    Cooper’s medical plans are provided by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield. Each of the medical plans offers flexibility and freedom to use any Cooper or network provider in Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield’s PPO, Blue Card network. Each plan has a wide range of preferred providers and services that may have no out-of-pocket cost when using Cooper providers, depending on the plan chosen. Prescription drug coverage is included in each of Cooper’s medical plans. Dental benefits are provided through Delta Dental PPO plans and Sun Life DMO. Short Description

The Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator is an RN who facilitates obtaining the program requirements necessary for the American College of Surgeons Level I Adult Trauma and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center verification/reverification through identification of issues, finding solutions, and collaborating to affect change. The PI Coordinator uses advanced skills in quality assessment to perform comprehensive quality of care and service audits that develop validated care standards, data repositories and outcome measurements related to trauma patient care. Collects and analyzes bench marking data, focus studies and clinical indicators. Ensures loop closure, prepares reports, presents outcomes, and participates in organizational-wide continuous improvement projects as it relates to the Trauma Performance and Patient Safety program.

Major Responsibilities

  • Work in close collaboration with the Trauma Program Director, Pediatric Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Directors
  • Takes initiative in planning, developing, organizing, and evaluation of Cooper’s Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) Program
  • Oversee and support the written Trauma PIPS plan. This will include development of quality indicators, complications, and other tracking/trending.
  • Coordinate performance improvement aspects of the trauma program with appropriate departments, managers, staff, and physicians.
  • Assesses the need for and facilitates the development and compliance with trauma protocols, guidelines, pathways, and standard order sets.
  • Assists with the development and coordination of projects that will enhance the trauma service. *Completes case reviews and analyses for contribution factors to the variance in care and/or complications
  • Demonstrates an understanding of trauma surgery procedures and trauma patient care including standards of care as well as potential injury complications
  • Facilitates, assists, and supports the Trauma Team in issue resolution and care facilitation.
  • Participates in and provides reports for trauma and hospital meetings related to the Performance Improvement of the Trauma Program.
  • Participate in the monthly interprofessional Trauma PIPS Committees

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 5 years trauma clinical experience with strong background in trauma/ critical care required.
  • Prior involvement with Quality Improvement and Outcomes management required. 

Education Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; BSN required, MSN preferred

License/Certification Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey required
  • CCRN and/or TCRN preferred

Special Requirements

  • Completion of Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course within 6 months of hire
  • Membership and active participation in professional organizations such as American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Society of Trauma Nurses, and/or American Trauma Society required.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, MS 365/ TEAMS and Excel are required.
  • Ability to work independently/ Self-Directed with minimal supervision.
Hourly Rate Min $36
Hourly Rate Max $59

The New Jersey Pay Transparency Act requires disclosure of the pay range for this position.

A salary offer will vary based on the job role, candidate experience, qualifications, internal pay equity and market data.
