Retirement
Cooper University Health Care offers a 403(b) retirement plan administered by Fidelity Investments that enables team members to save and plan for retirement through pre-tax and post-tax (Roth) contributions. All new team members of Cooper University Health Care will have 3% of compensation automatically deducted from their pay each payroll period and directed to their account at Fidelity Investments. Deferral percentages can be changed with Fidelity at any time, once enrolled. A match contribution of 50% of the team member’s contributions up to 5% of annual salary is available once eligible.

Each of the medical plans offers flexibility and freedom to use any Cooper or network provider in Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield’s PPO, Blue Card network. Short Description
The Cancer Navigator is a specially trained professional who guides patients through the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up process of cancer. This position will focus on all cancer types. The Navigator functions as a resource to a multidisciplinary team of specialists as an advocate, interpreter, educator and counselor for the oncology patient, their family and referring public. The Navigator is responsible for ensuring patients with an oncology diagnosis receive quality and comprehensive coordinated services in a timely manner. The Navigator will coordinate care throughout the continuum in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The scope of this work includes facilitating dynamic scheduling for patients, triage of services and patients as needed, coordination of care, integration of clinical activities across various specialties in cancer care and follow up from diagnosis to survivorship.
Duties/Responsibilities
- The Navigator will work as part of the Navigation Team, which includes the Social Worker, in the assessment and facilitation of services to patients in the Radiation Center.
- Identify and connect patients to services and resources available to them in the community.
- The Nurse Navigator is responsible for collecting and tracking metrics necessary to monitor outcomes for the Navigation program.
- Active membership and participation in the Cancer Committee.
- The Navigator will collaborate with and become a member of our Community Screening and Outreach Work group to promote cancer health equity in our area through community outreach and engagement with our diverse population with a focus toward all people having the same access to cancer related screening, treatment, and education.
- The Navigator, along with the Navigation Team, will provide health education, address social determinants of health, connect the community to cancer screening resources, and navigate community members through the healthcare system to improve cancer outcomes in our community.
Experience Required
- Oncology experience required
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws as well as Joint Commission requirements that govern health care and Oncology care
- Knowledge of community resources
- Skilled at navigating EMR for appropriate knowledge and documentation experience required.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
License/Certification Requirements
- Current NJ-RN License
- Current Oncology Nursing Certification required (OCN or ONN-CG)
- BLS required
- Oncology Navigation Certification preferred
- The Nurse Navigator will become certified in Navigation within 2 years of hire, if certification is not already attained.
