The Genetic Counselor should have a Master’s degree from an Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) accredited genetic counseling training program. Candidates should be eligible for American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) certification and are preferred to have at least 2 years’ experience in a cancer genetics related field. In addition, candidates should have a strong knowledge base in cancer genetics, be highly motivated, have strong critical-thinking, organizational and communication skills, and be able to work well independently and collaboratively.
ACGC-accredited Genetic Counseling Training Program students who anticipate graduation in April/May 2021 are welcome to apply for this position.
A genetic counselor license or work permit issued by the State of New Jersey is required by state law to engage in clinical practice as a genetic counselor.
This Genetic Counselor will:
• Coordinate and perform all services provided through the Cancer Genetics Program.
• Perform all aspects of hereditary cancer risk counseling.
• Coordinate genetic testing for various hereditary cancer syndromes.
• Provide education to referring physicians and the community at large about hereditary cancer syndromes.
Special Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Masters degree from an Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) - accredited Genetic Counseling training program
Experience: 2 years experience in Cancer Genetics or related field preferred.
Required License/Certifications/ Registration: Eligible for American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) certification
Scheduled Days / Hours: MTuWThFri 8a-4:30p as needed
