Perioperative 101 Training Program
The role of the operating room (OR) nurse or perioperative nurse is to provide patient-focused multi-disciplinary care for patients before, during and after surgery or surgical procedures. The operating room nurse job description also includes the role of patient educator, circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse.
The Cooper University Hospital Periop 101 program will focus on the foundations and principles of surgery and perioperative nursing in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases of the patients’ surgical experience. The program incorporates a continuum of didactic instruction, lab, and clinical experience.
Experienced perioperative preceptors are assigned to each student for the clinical experience. The students rotate through each surgical sub-specialty. The eventual goal is the students move from novice to independence.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be hired as a staff nurse within the Operating Room department. Participants must also agree to sign a commitment to work at Cooper University Hospital for 2 years in the Operating Room.
Requirements: - BSN required - BLS required Work Shift Day Shf, Rotat All M/D/E

Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing.
Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse).
Current NJ-BLS Certification(Basic Life Support)
