Short Description

Provides behavioral health counseling services including but not limited to assessment, treatment planning, brief and/or longer term counseling, education, case management advocacy and follow-up to patient panel.

Work with integrated behavioral health team to provide brief counseling and community resources to patients referred by Cooper primary care providers.  Consults with patient’s care team to enhance understanding of patient; provides decision support for treatment planning and assists in the implementation and monitoring of biopsychosocial treatment plans.  Provides education to physician referral sources.

Provide clinical supervision for behavioral health staff including social workers, counselors, care coordinators and other clinical staff.

Perform chart audits and work with staff on compliance.

Assists with training as requested by department/program leaders

Represents Cooper Behavioral Health at a department, divisional and organizational level.

Expected to maintain behavior, judgment and attitude with reflect professional practice standards.

Special Requirements


Master’s degree or doctorate in social work


Minimum 2 years full-time experience behavioral health as a clinical provider (biopsychosocial evaluations and psychotherapy). Experience in a group treatment modality a plus.  Experience with children/adolescents a plus.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Required License/Certifications/ Registration:

NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required

Social Work Supervisor Certification within 1 year of hire

Other Qualifications:

Training in current evidence based treatments and therapeutic approaches.; Ability to manage priorities and workflow;

Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm; Strong interpersonal skills; Able to work collaboratively with multiple health and community professionals using tact, diplomacy, and discipline; Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds;

Scheduled Days / Hours: M-F 8:30-5:00; License (or Certification):NJ-LSW Required
